Liverpool Forward Divock Origi Emerges as a Shock Transfer Target for Atletico Madrid

Liverpool striker Divock Origi could be set for a move away from Merseyside after he has emerged as an audacious transfer target for Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

According to reports in the Mirror, the 21-year-old is on Diego Simeone's backup list should a move for Chelsea's Diego Costa fail to succeed.

It is believed that Origi possess the attributes to suit Simeone's all-action playing style and would be a perfect replacement should the Spanish side be unable to prize their main target away from Stamford Bridge.
Rumours have emerged that Atletico are currently struggling in their pursuit of their former striker Costa, who moved to West London in 2014.

New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that Costa will remain a Blues player, causing Simone to look at other options.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a huge fan of the young forward however and would be unwilling to lose the Belgium international.

Following his arrival at Anfield in October 2015, Klopp has shown great faith in Origi. The youngster was chosen to lead the line in Klopp's very first game as the Reds manager in a goalless draw away at Tottenham Hotspur.

With Klopp's allegiance to Origi strong, it would appear to take a premium offer to prize Origi from Anfield.
Meanwhile, despite the addition of Southampton's Sadio Mane to the Liverpool front line, the Reds have struggled to find a main goalscoring threat in recent times with Origi highlighted as a potential sensation.

Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings have endured difficult campaigns with injury under Jurgen Klopp, whilst Christian Benteke has failed to settle following his arrival on Merseyside.

Origi's international teammate has fallen so far down the pecking order that midfielder Roberto Firmino has been deployed as a false-9 instead of the former Aston Villa man.
