Arsenal Hold Further Talks With Lyon Over Alexandre Lacazette Transfer

​Arsenal are continuing their interest for Lyon's French forward Alexandre Lacazette, according to Italian journalist ​Emanuele Giulianelli.

Speaking on his Twitter page, he said that the club are looking at the 25-year-old as a main summer target as manager Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi have also been reported targets, but it appears that Lacazette is the most likely option - though his price tag of £42m may be a hindrance to any deal.

​​Giulianelli has been reporting numerous transfer stories over the summer window so far, and has made other claims about Wenger's plans.

He says that Wolfsburg's German attacking midfielder Julian Draxler is wanted by the North London club after an impressive individual tournament at Euro 2016 for his country - and Arsenal are willing to pay £50m for him.

Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo is also said to interest the club after impressing since signing from Spanish side Granada in 2015.

These rumours all suggest that Wenger is looking to enhance the spine of his team after the disappointment of finishing second in the Premier League last year to Leicester City, despite looking like favourites for large parts.

A move for Lacazette would make sense as the club try to ease the burden on fellow Frenchman Olivier Giroud, who has been the side's main striker for the past few seasons.

Another long-term injury to Danny Welbeck, and a loss of form for players like Theo Walcott means that the Gunners are facing a start to the new season with a lack of firepower unless they act now.
