Barcelona welcomed new €55m signing Andre Gomes into the Camp Nou family with an official unveiling on Wednesday to mark the Euro 2016 winner's high profile arrival from Valencia.

The young midfielder, Barça's most expensive signing of the summer so far after the earlier arrivals of Denis Suarez, Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne, expressed his delight at being able to join, describing it as an "honour and a privilege".
"I am 22 and I want to grow. I have come to learn. Here, I have many references," he added.

For Barça Director of Football Albert Soler, who later confirmed the agreement of a new three-year contract for Javier Mascherano, this was the "best time" to bring in highly-rated Gomes.
The rest of the Barcelona squad have been training in England this week, making use of the facilities at St George's Park ahead of the upcoming friendly against Celtic in neighbouring Ireland.

After that, Lionel Messi and co. will take on Premier League champions Leicester City in Sweden, before then facing Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in a high profile friendly at Wembley.
